Can you Be Creative in the Era of the Superficial?

When the Russian writer Anton Chekhov was asked about the nature of failed societies, he replied:

“In failed societies, there are a thousand fools for every wise mind, and a thousand senseless words for every conscious one. The majority remains foolish, always overpowering the wise. If you see trivial topics dominating discussions in society and superficial people leading the scene, then you are talking about a highly failed society.

For example, songs with meaningless and shallow lyrics attract millions of people who dance and sing along, making the singer famous, well-known, and beloved. In fact, people even consider their opinions on societal and life matters.

Meanwhile, writers and intellectuals remain unknown and unappreciated. Most people prefer shallowness and mental sedation. A person who numbs us into oblivion or entertains us with trivialities is more favored than one who awakens us to reality and pains us with the truth.

That is why democracy is not suitable for ignorant societies—because the ignorant majority will be the ones deciding your fate. MOORE

Democracy is an experiment in social order in which citizens must consider the individual before acquiescing to the powers that be. Unlike other major governments, democracy is the reverse and very fragile; only a strong spirit of freedom can preserve our democracy. Privacy rights in a democracy are fostered by the concern to protect the one vote, not by our Constitution as most think. Federal case law reflects such. This is why privacy has been attacked by special-interest snakes who work day and night to make our privacy rights tentative, not written in stone. To listen to secret organizations who pose to represent Americanism and do unto a stranger what the snake organizations tell you to do – this is the beginning of the collapse of our democracy and privacy rights.
